Prof. Bracha Shapira is a full professor in the Software and Information Systems Engineering Department at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She was the chair of the department between 2011-2017 and is now the deputy dean of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at BGU. She is a researcher at the Telekom Innovation Laboratory at BGU. She is a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jeruslaem (M.Sc in Computer Science) and Ben-Gurion University (Ph.D in Information Systems Engineering) in 2000. After Graduating she joined SCILS at Rutgers University in NJ, USA, as a post doc researcher and worked with Prof. Paul Kantor and his team on a personalized search service.
She Came back to Ben-Gurion Bracha as faculty on 2001, since then she established the Information Retrieval Lab there and lead numerous research projects related to personalization, recommender systems, user profiling, privacy, and application of machine learning methods to cyber security.
