Research Abstract

I strive to understand how language comprehension occurs in humans by using computational models for knowledge acquisition. Once such existence-proof is given, the stage will be set for more detailed comparative study between human and computational models. Aart from that, I am interestde on the new questions that are arising due to the advent of Web 2.0. The new media – endowed with different gravitational force and speed – has prompted the development of new practices of computational linguistics; there is an urge to examine how these practices challenge discussions and basic questions about language; can they fill gaps in, or undermine discussions and basic questions on language.
