Biography

Achiya Elyasaf, is a Lecturer at the Software and Information Systems Engineering Department, Ben-Gurion University, Israel. His research focuses on software engineering and evolutionary algorithms, particularly on context-based scenario language for IoT and learning strategies for behavioral programming.

Dr. Elyasaf received his academic degrees from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, all in Computer Science. His graduate work introduced a novel methodology for learning heuristics for combinatorial domains using evolutionary algorithms. His postdoctoral was in David Harel’s lab at the Weizmann Institute of Science. His work focused on developing a context-based scenario language for modeling reactive systems.

Dr. Elyasaf won the I-CORE in Algorithms Postdoctoral Fellowship of the Israeli Council for Higher Education (CHE) and the Israel Science Foundation (ISF), an IEEE Outstanding Paper Award, several university awards for excellence in research — including two Dean’s List awards (Ben-Gurion University, 2014; Weizmann Institute of Science, 2016), and three HUMIE Awards — Human-Competitive Results Produced by Genetic and Evolutionary Computation (Gold, 2013; Gold, 2011; Bronze, 2009).
